Creator Description

The 15th generation Yokoi Gagyu (Gagyu Kiln) is the sole kiln that upholds the traditional "brushstroke" texture. It was established in 1602. Following the footsteps of Nonomura Ninsei, who is regarded as the founder of Kyoto ceramics, it became widely recognized and was even referred to as "Ninsei of Kyushu." Continuing the tradition, it has been designated as an intangible cultural asset of Nagasaki Prefecture. Yokoi Gagyu Kiln consistently produces original pieces that seamlessly blend the craftsmanship of pottery with delicate ornamentation.

Their innovative use of various colored glazes creates a unique palette and luster that gives birth to a refreshing sense of satisfaction. These pieces seamlessly harmonize with contemporary living, offering a new sensory experience. Over time, the glazes on their creations evolve, producing a fresh character that allows you to feel the essence of ceramics. Please enjoy the distinctive beauty crafted by this renowned kiln, often referred to as the "Ninsei of Kyushu."
