Matcha Bowl (Chawan) - Oil-Spot Tenmoku, Shinemon Kiln, Arita Ware
A silver crystalline glaze glittering in the well of a tenmoku (jet-black) tea bowl.
Mature Skill on the WheelShinemon’s matured skill on the potter’s wheel. Made by the traditional technique of yuteki tenmoku (oil-spot tenmoku), this work is filled with refinement and solid presence — truly a work that speaks to the heart.
Stars in a Night Sky
The smoked-silver crystals make a world of illusion, as though one were gazing at the shining stars of the night sky. The finest masterpiece of Shinemon I, in which a sensation of becoming one with the cosmos wells up.
Born of 1,280°C
This is the work of time and space, appearing only through continuous firing at the high temperature of 1,280°C. A mysterious yohen work beyond what words can describe. We would be glad if you would keep it in your collection.
