The name Aizome-Suiteki means indigo-dyed dewdrops. Chains of white and indigo crystals run across the porcelain with the lustre of a gemstone, and they shift and glimmer as light or liquid touches them — a cup that answers to the mood of whoever is holding it.

A smooth, milky white forms the ground, and cool-toned crystals colour the cup inside and out. White is the colour of refinement, of cleanliness, of formality, which is why a white vessel carries a quiet authority that a decorated one does not.

Exceptional Functionality
The material is the finest natural pottery stone from Amakusa in Kyushu, fired above 1,300°C. The cup feels feather-light in the hand yet is hard and non-absorbent, so stains do not settle and care is simple. There is none of the earthy scent of stoneware, letting the aroma of the sake come through, and it holds temperature, hot or cold, remarkably well.
