Travelling the Mountains of Japan
“To travel the mountains of the whole country, and to find beauty in their faces through the four seasons and in the mountains of one’s homeland.” The hints for this work came from one journey after another, and the masterpieces of his many mountain series are made out of the maker’s earnest wish: “by painting mountains, I want to awaken in people their longing for the mountains, and their yearning toward them.”

Ridgelines and Rising Mist
The charm of “Framed Ceramic Work: Mountain Landscape” lies in the dreamlike natural scenery that rises along the ridgelines. Using supreme colour freely and at will, it draws the viewer into a world of delight, into a longing for the nature within oneself, and brings the sensation of travelling among mountains. The reds and blues of those mountains draw you in, and let you feel the rising haze and the moisture in the air.
