Cherry Blossom and Blue Waves
On white porcelain like snow, a riot of flowers in full bloom is drawn with a delicate brush. Each cherry blossom shows its own expression, and the lines of blue waves stand out with grace. Gradations of crimson and pale pink call up, in lustrous colour, a scene of spring at its height.

“Beauty of the Heart”
Sakura is a special flower for the Japanese, who have found in it an exceptional beauty and long admired it. To say hanami — flower viewing — is generally to mean sakura. The language of the cherry blossom is “beauty of the heart,” and since ancient times the word “flower” has meant sakura.
