Gold Beneath the Glaze
Beneath a clear, gemlike pale-blue glaze, indigo and pale blue bleed softly into one another. Clematis flowers bloom in gold, a ho-o (phoenix) takes flight, and a fine ground pattern is drawn throughout.

The Clematis, Queen of Climbers
The tessen is also known as the clematis; in Britain the rose is called the king and the clematis the queen, the queen of climbing plants. Its language of flowers includes “beauty of the heart,” “integrity” and “beauty of the spirit.”

The Ho-o
The ho-o passes through fire to be reborn, and is held to be a symbol of eternal life. A sacred bird of legend, also known as the phoenix or the immortal bird, in China it represents the empress. A piece of this refinement is recommended not only as a gift for an individual, but as a commemorative or presentation piece for government offices and for corporations.

Every decorative vase we handle is a one-off, painted entirely by hand without transfers. It comes with a special paulownia box bearing the artist’s inscription.
